Published by Mistic under Astrology on August 10, 2006People have an unusual interest in astrology. They read their daily horoscopes, either for fun or to see what their day will bring. The fact that these horoscopes apply to one twelfth of the world population does not matter to them. There are certain things in astrology which do hold true.
Most people think there are the twelve signs and twelve personalities. In actuality there are twenty-four personalities. Anyone born between the first and the tenth of the month are true to their signs. Anyone born between the fifteenth and the sixth of the following month have both personalities. It just depends on which side that person is born on. For example, someone born on the twenty seventh of the month has the personality of their sign with an underscore of the previous sign.
By now, someone is asking what does this have to do with spirituality. The answer is simple. What we try to achieve is the perfect balance of all the signs to become our true spiritual self.
Aries is assertive, and a leader. Taurus is practical and stable. Gemini is an intellectual. Cancer is loyal and family values. Leo is expressive and magnanimous. Virgo is logical and creative. Libra is balanced and fair. Scorpio is perceptive and dependable. Sagittarius is highly intuitive and honest. Capricorn is patient and self reliant. Aquarius is sincere and friendly. Pisces is kind and sympathetic.
As you can see from above, I only listed the good qualities of these signs. The negative qualities reflect what are considered the deadly sins. For example, Aries can be very selfish in their quest to be noticed. That goes directly with the definition of Lust. Aries can also walk all over anyone that gets in the way of their ambition. This becomes the definition of Greed. Aries can feel they are better and smarter than everyone else. This is the definition of Pride.
Taurus can be very lazy (Sloth). They can be very Greedy, and Jealous (Envy).
Anyone that knows a Gemini knows there are two distinct personalities. One is ‘fondly’ referred to as the evil twin. This side can be manipulative, (pride) self-centered (lust), prejudice (wrath).
Cancer can be opinionated (wrath), sloppy and lazy (sloth).
Leo can be intolerant (wrath), conceited (pride), patronizing (lust), jealous (envy).
Virgo can be blunt, over critical, and perfectionist (pride)
Libra can be resentful (envy), vain (pride), and lazy (sloth).
Scorpio can be jealous and resentful (envy), intolerant (wrath), obsessive (gluttony).
Sagittarius can be immoral (lust), procrastinate (sloth), impatient (pride)
Capricorn can be miserly (gluttony), egotistical (pride), jealous (envy)
Aquarius can be opinionated (pride), irresponsible ( sloth)
Pisces can be selfish (gluttony), immoral (lust), lazy (sloth)
Every sign has a negative side which can be associated with one or more of the seven deadly sins. What we have to do is recognize the negative side and try to eliminate it from our personality. Too often, this is easier said than done. By recognizing these negative signs are from the dark side, and by indulging in them we are falling into the trap of the dark one, it becomes easier to try and eliminate them from our personalities.
No one is perfect. The Higher Powers do not expect anyone to be. All they are asking of us is to try and achieve our true potential of the positive sides of each sign and eliminate the negative side from our thought process. The operative word here is try. If we are able to eliminate even one of these negative sins, we have taken a closer step to our true spirit. If we can eliminate one of these, then the opposite - one of the seven Heavenly Virtues will take its place. If we can eliminate wrath from our conscious, than love for our fellow man can take its place. If we can eliminate greed from our personalities, than we will become more merciful.
By recognizing we are truly unique individuals, with unlimited potential, we can change the world into a paradise instead of the mess it is in now.
